1977 Honda Foundation established.
1978 Honda of America Mfg., Inc. established. Prelude introduced.
1979 Production operations of motorcycles in the State of Ohio, U.S.A. started. Honda won 500 cc Motocross World Championships. BL and Honda signed technical collaboration agreement.
1980 Ballade introduced. Scooter "Tact" (NS50) marketed. Honda won 500 cc Moto cross and Endurance World Championships.
1981 The world's first turbo equipped motorcycle CX500 TURBO produced. Three wheel scooter "Stream" marketed. New automobile "Honda City" marketed. Technical collaboration agreement was signed with the Chinese state-run Jialing Machine Factory of Chongqing. Ralt-Honda won 1981 European Formula 2 Championship.
1982 Technical collaboration agreement was signed with French Cycle Peugeot. Production of Civic exceeded 3,0000,000 units. City Turbo marketed. Production of Accord 4-door Sedan in the Sate of Ohio, U.S.A. started.
1983 Austin Rover Group of the BL Limited and Honda signed a joint agreement of the development of the XX car. New Civic series announced. City Turbo II announced. K .Kawashima retired as President and T. Kume took its post. New Civic and Ballade series awarded Japan Car of the Year. Production of Super Cub series exceeded 15,000,000 units
1984 Lawnmower production started at Honda Power Equipment Mfg., Inc, in the USA. Automobile manufacturing company established in Canada. Honda Belgium NV attained a grand total of 1 million mopeds produced since production began in 1962. Ralt-Honda Formula 2 team completed a record-breaking unbroken string of 12 consecutive European Championship F-2 wins. Honda-powered Williams-Honda F-1 car won the Dallas Grand Prix.
1985 HRC signs three year sponsorship agreement with Rothmans International for Motor cycle GP racing. "Quint Integra" announced. New "Accord/Vigor" announced. New head office building in Aoyama, Tokyo. A stylish new bonnet van, "Today" announced. "Legend" announced. Accord/Vigor named "'85-'86 Japanese Car of the Year".
1986 The Acura sales network in U.S. started to sell the Legend and Integra on the U.S. market. Honda was ranked first in the '86 U.S. Customer Satisfaction Index. Development of the world's first steer angle dependent four wheel steering system (4WS) was announced. The Williams-Honda car won the '86 F-1 constructors' championship. Production of Accords commenced at Honda's new Alliston plant in Canada. A power product plant was opened in France to manufacture lawn mowers and tillers. Honda Motor de Portugal S.A.R.L. was established.
1987 Full-fledged production and Engine Supply Agreements concluded with A.R.G. Acura line captures number one and Honda line number two position in 1987 U.S. Customer Satisfaction Index. World's first in-hub motorcycle anti-lock braking system developed.
1988 Import of Gold Wing GL 1500 and Accord Coupe from HAM to Japan commences. Honda of America, Mfg. produces its one millionth car. Honda Automobiles Espana S.A. established in Spain. Production of small generators begins in India. Honda Italy Racing Team wins Paris-Dakar Rally. McLaren Honda captures the F-1 Constructos's Championship. Honda McLaren driver Ayrton Senna wins the F-1 World Championship.
1989 Honda Traction Control System introduced. Construction of NSX plant in Tochigi, Japan begins. Honda Motor Europe Ltd. established as headquarters in Europe. New Accord series introduced. Honda Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC) System introduced. Honda Motor Co., Ltd. founder, Soichiro Honda is inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame (U.S.A.)
1990 Honda President Tadashi named AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES magazine's "Man of the Year" for 1990. Honda Navigation System introduced. Soichiro Honda, Founder of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., awarded the "Medaille d"Or de la FIA" by the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile. Acura Line ranked number one for fourth consecutive year in 1990 U.S. Customer Satisfaction Index. World Solar Challenge.
1991 Cumulative engine production in the U.S. reaches one million units. American Honda Motor Co., Inc. begins to export Accord Wagon to Europe. Honda develops new VTEC-E engine which features both high fuel efficiency and excellent performance. Soichiro Honda, Founder and Supreme Advisor of Honda Motor Co., Ltd., passes away. NR introduced in Europe. Honda captures the Constructor's Championship for the sixth consecutive year. '92 Civic won the Japanese Car of the Year Award '91-'92.
1992 Honda's cummulative auto production in Japan 20 million units. Honda Super Cub production reaches 20 million units. Honda Civic celebrates 20th anniversary. Honda Europe Power Equipment S.A. established in France. Civic Coupe introduced in U.S.A. Production Accord by Honda of the U.K. Mfg. Ltd. commences. Honda Motor signs a technical collaboration agreement with DAEWOO for the production passenger cars in south Korea. Honda announces third joint venture for motor-cycle production in China. Honda power products reaches 20 million units.
1993 Honda signs a technical collaboration agreement with PIAGGOP. Honda Motor (China) Co., Ltd. established in Hong Kong. Honda signs a business agreement with ISUZU for product complementation.
